What type of transfer paper should I use?

The technique of transfer paper has the advantage that we do not have to buy a new printer for this use but can use our paper printer equipped with its original inks .

Although it is an advantage,it takes a small problem when selecting the appropriate type of transfer paper for your printer. The transfer paper is divided into two general categories: inkjet transfer paper and laser transfer paper . And often that begins in the transfer paper we question: How I can know what kind of printer I have?

The purpose of this post is to clarify several points about these two types of printers and what is the most appropriate transfer paper.

The printers inkjet : work by spraying ink onto paper. They include a printhead with many tiny nozzles which meter the ink onto the paper. These printers use ink cartridges with liquid.

Ink consumption of these printers is more expensive than toner printers.

Some inkjet printers use water - based inks pigmented. But regardless of the type of ink, how important is it quality. And since these printers and inks not designed to transfer paper but to print on paper, it is difficult to determine in advance its suitability for use on transfer paper. The ink should be quality.

Our advice:

If you already have an inkjet printer and decide to use it to transfer paper, we recommend that you test with it. Prints on inkjet transfer paper, making the transfer to the garment, washing the garment and check the durability of the design. The color loss in the first wash, which is a normal effect, should be less than 5%.
There are two types of inkjet transfer: the light backgrounds and dark backgrounds . Select the appropriate paper in the color of the shirt (dark or light).

The laser printers do not use ink cartridges but toner and work similar to a copier mode. The toner is a dry powder comprising pigments that have been crushed and converted into powder. The printing process is a laser recording on a photosensitive drum that want to print the contents by an electrostatic charge. The cylinder passes the deposit of toner, pigments cylinder and then the paper comes into contact with the cylinder stick, pigments falls on paper as a rain ink, and finally a roller heat fixing the ink on the paper.

Our advice:

Not all laser papers are compatible with all laser printers. Laser printers apply heat in the final step of fixing the toner pigments. If the laser printer reaches very high temperatures will not work with the laser paper, which would remain stuck in the fuser.
Laser transfer paper is also classified into two types : for light backgrounds and dark backgrounds .
In recent years, it has managed to develop laser transfer paper is not necessary to cut because it transfers only the portion of the printed design. And when used in white toner printers can create designs in white.
Laser transfer designs require more pressure and heat during the transfer plate transferring. Therefore, it is important to carefully follow the manufacturer 's instructions.
If you decide to use your printer paper to get started in the art of transfer paper , you must follow these steps:

1.Find out the type of printer that you buy ,the proper transfer paper type and printer model,
Select the transfer paper for light backgrounds or dark backgrounds , depending on the color of the shirt you want to customize
2.Performs some test before offering this printing technique to your customers. Print, iron and wash to check the durability of the design.
